Greg Isenberg’s lead magnet strategy is GENIUS.
And the best part is…
Most people are sleeping on it.
So, let me break down how it works (so you can steal it):
The Hyper-Congruent Lead Magnet Strategy
Most creators use the same generic lead magnet for every piece of content they publish.
Greg does the opposite.
If you go to Greg’s YouTube channel and start paying attention to the CTAs he uses in his video descriptions, you’ll notice something very interesting:
Most of his lead magnets are extremely relevant to the topic of the video.
For example, he recently published a video breaking down Dan Koe’s content creation system.
And guess what the CTA is?
A guide on how to replicate Dan’s AI content engine for yourself.
Here’s another one:
He recently did another video breaking down how he’d use Sora & Claude to create viral AI videos at scale.
The lead magnet he plugged under that video?
In another video, where he shows how to use AI agents to scrape data from Google Maps & find ideas for local businesses you can start, he plugged this lead magnet:
See the pattern?
Now, this might not sound like a big deal… but it kinda is.
Because by maximizing the level of congruence between your content and the lead magnet you promote at the end, you can also maximize:
The number of people who click on the CTA in the first place
The number of people who actually opt-in
And ultimately your email list growth
In other words, you’re getting more subscribers AND more juice out of every piece of content you create.
But, I know what you’re thinking…
“Daniel, this feels like a LOT of work…”
“This makes sense but creating a custom lead magnet for every piece of content? That sounds exhausting.”
Fair concern.
But here’s the thing:
I’m sure that at this point, Greg & his team have:
Found ways to streamline this with AI
Created templates they can plug and play
Built a whole system around this strategy
And you can do the exact same thing.
In fact, I’m going to walk you through how you could go about systematizing this whole process.
(And yes - even though this strategy is ideal for long-form content like YouTube videos or podcast episodes, it can absolutely work for LinkedIn posts too.)
5 Steps To Build Hyper-Congruent Lead Magnets With Ease
Here’s the 5-step process you’d need to go through to create a Hyper-Congruent Lead Magnet (and how to streamline and/or automate each of them):
Step 1: Brainstorm a hyper-congruent lead magnet
You have 2 options here:
Option A: Expand your content into a more comprehensive resource
For example, this email you’re reading right now? It’s basically an expanded version of a LinkedIn post I made about Greg’s strategy earlier this week, which I could easily turn into a lead magnet.
If you want to try this approach, you can use my LinkedIn → Newsletter Expander Prompt. It’s perfect for this.
Option B: Create a supplementary resource/asset
This is when you create something that adds to your content rather than expanding it.
Like the prompt I offered in my LinkedIn post to help people brainstorm hyper-congruent lead magnets. It’s not the same content - it’s a tool that helps you implement what you just learned.
For this approach, use the prompt I’m sharing at the end of this email.
Step 2: Create the lead magnet itself
Once you know what you’re creating, you need to actually make the thing.
This step is pretty straightforward and depends on what type of asset you’re building.
But you should 100% leverage AI here too. Whether it’s writing a guide, creating a checklist, or building a template - chances are, AI can handle 80% of the heavy lifting.
You just need to prompt it right.
Step 3: Create the landing page
Once you’ve got your asset, you need a landing page.
And no, you don’t need a super fancy landing page.
The key is to clearly articulate the value prop of your free asset AND make sure it’s coherent with the content people are coming from.
That’s it.

And this other prompt to generate nice-looking mockup images in minutes (instead of hours):
Step 4: Create a simple welcome/delivery email
Again, don’t overcomplicate this.
You just need a simple email that:
Delivers what you promised
Sets expectations for future emails
Maybe teases your next piece of content
For example, Greg’s welcome emails are literally 3-4 sentences. And while I would probably make a few tweaks to these, these can also work perfectly fine:
(If you’d like some extra help, I share a framework & a prompt to write engaging lead magnet welcome emails with ease here.)
Step 5: Add a CTA to your piece of content!
Last but not least:
You need to actually promote your lead magnet at the end of the piece of content you’re plugging it into.
The key here is making the transition feel natural.
Your CTA should feel like the logical next step for the reader (or viewer) to take, not just a random plug.
Here’s an example from Greg’s video breaking down Dan Koe’s content creation system:
Or how I did it in my LinkedIn post:
“PS - I put together a prompt to help me brainstorm hyper relevant lead magnets for specific pieces of content. Want to check it out? Comment ‘greg’ & I’ll send you a copy.”
Both of these CTAs flow naturally from the content. They don’t feel forced.
The Hyper-Congruent Lead Magnet Brainstormer
Ready to create your own hyper-congruent lead magnets?
Here’s the prompt I use to brainstorm perfectly aligned lead magnets for any piece of content:
## Role
Act as a lead magnet strategist who has helped 100+ creators and businesses achieve 3x higher opt-in rates by creating hyper-congruent offers.
You’ve analyzed thousands of pieces of content and understand exactly what makes someone click “download” immediately after consuming content.
You specialize in the Greg Isenberg approach: creating lead magnets so specifically relevant to each piece of content that they feel like the natural next step, not a generic afterthought.
## Task
Analyze the provided piece of content and generate 10 hyper-relevant lead magnet ideas that directly expand on the specific topic, angle, and insights discussed. Each lead magnet should feel like it was custom-built for someone who just consumed this exact piece of content.
## Format
Present the ideas as a strategic roadmap organized by implementation difficulty:
**QUICK WINS (Low effort, high impact):**
Lead Magnets #1-3
**MEDIUM EFFORT (Higher value, moderate creation time):**
Lead Magnets #4-7
**PREMIUM ASSETS (High effort, maximum conversion potential):**
Lead Magnets #8-10
For each lead magnet, provide:
[Number]. [Compelling Title That Mirrors Content Language]
- Format: [Specific deliverable type]
- What’s inside: [3-4 concrete bullets describing exact contents]
- Relevance score: [1-10 rating of congruence with content]
- Why it converts: [1-2 sentences explaining psychological trigger]
- Creation effort: [Time estimate + tools needed]
- Unique angle: [What makes this different from generic lead magnets on this topic]
## Additional Guidelines/Rules
Things to avoid:
- No generic “ultimate guides” or “complete toolkits” unless hyper-specific to content
- Avoid lead magnets that require the reader to have context beyond this single piece of content
- Don’t suggest lead magnets that are just repackaged versions of what was already shared
- Exclude anything that feels like a bait-and-switch from the content topic
- No lead magnets that require expensive tools, large teams, or months to create (unless marked as Premium Asset)
## Input
CONTENT TO ANALYZE:
[Paste your LinkedIn post, newsletter, YouTube transcript, or other content here]
ADDITIONAL CONTEXT (optional):
[Add any additional context]
TARGET AUDIENCE [who is this for?]
Your business model: [how does email list tie to revenue?]
Existing lead magnets: [what do you already have?]
Creation constraints: [time/budget/team limitations]
Ready to accelerate your email list growth?
Now, you have everything you need to start creating hyper-congruent free assets that feel like the natural next step for your readers.
Just use the prompt above to brainstorm your next lead magnet, start to templatize the whole process (one step at a time, doesn’t have to be perfect), and watch your email list growth accelerate.
