Our 6-figure newsletter publishing strategy
We helped a client drive $400k in revenue using this exact cadence
We’ve helped one of our clients drive $400k in revenue from his newsletter over the last 6 months.
And the coolest part is - our strategy has actually been super simple:
Every week we send 3 newsletters
Every month we build a new evergreen sequence
And every 2-3 months we run a launch sequence promoting his core offering
That’s it.
Now, one of the most common questions I get when I talk to people who are looking to start or scale their newsletter is:
“What kind of emails should I send to my email subscribers every week?”
So in this email, I am going to walk you through the 3 newsletter formats we use every single week - and share a prompt to help you actually plan 4 weeks’ worth of emails.
Ready? Let’s dig in.
The 3-Format Newsletter Week
Most people sit down and try to reinvent the wheel each week.
Every time they need to write a newsletter, they start from scratch, wonder what to write, then do it all over again seven days later.
We don’t do that.
Instead, we have 3 repeatable formats that we rotate through, each with one specific job.
Here’s how each one works:
Monday - The Curation Email. Resurface something you’ve already made - a lead magnet, an SOP, a few posts from the past week - and compile it all into one email. You nurture your list without creating anything new. And if you resurface posts from LinkedIn or Instagram, your email list gives that content a second push too.
Wednesday - The Deep Dive. This is where you teach. Take one framework you’re known for and break it down step by step. Then the CTA writes itself: “You can go do this yourself, or if you want help, let’s talk.”
Friday - The Story. Share the before-and-after of a client, student, or customer who lived out the exact thing you teach. Then you point them to the same next step as Wednesday. People don’t just buy from logic. They also buy from stories.
Obviously, the topics always change. And if we ever feel like trying something different, we can.
But after writing for so many clients, we’ve found it extremely helpful to have a series of staple formats we can alternate between.
Why we love this cadence
3 reasons:
It kills the blank page - you’re never deciding what kind of email to write, only what topic to fill in.
You give far more than you take - all the emails are 95% “give” and only 5% “ask.” So when we do ask, we’ve accrued an insane amount of goodwill equity.
You sell to different people in different ways - the more tactical crowd buys from the Wednesday teardown. Whereas the more emotional crowd buys from the Friday before-and-after.
Now, onto the prompt…
