Here’s a unique way to promote your newsletter on social.
(I recently saw Tim Ferriss doing this on X and thought it was genius.)
I call it…
The “Most Clicked Link” Teaser
The idea is very simple:
A few days after you send out a new edition of your newsletter, make a social post highlighting the single link that got the most clicks.
Then invite people to subscribe so they don’t miss future editions.
Here’s why I like this tactic:
It gives people a sneak peek - they get a taste of the kind of thing you normally include in your emails, which makes subscribing feel more enticing.
It has built-in social proof - “this was the most clicked link” subtly signals that a lot of people found it valuable.
It’s basically free content - you’re not making anything new. The link and the data already exist, so you get a fresh promo post out of every issue with very little effort.
Now, in case you’re curious…
Here’s an example
This was the actual Tweet I saw from Tim:
Now, I did have one thing I’d improve in Tim’s Tweet to make it even stronger:
I’d share the actual number of people who clicked the link (to show social proof). For example: Something like “1,200 people clicked this link last week” is far more compelling than just calling it the most clicked link.
The only caveat: This works best if your newsletter has some kind of curated section where you share a few links or resources.
But if you don’t, then you might want to try adding this format to your weekly rotation.
Now, as usual, here’s an AI prompt to help you implement this tactic with a fraction of the time and the effort.
